Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair.
Well, y'all... we're almost there.
September 7th will mark one year of Love and Life with Lisa.
And let me tell you, year one was a year I never imagined in my wildest dreams.
But here's the thing...
Year one didn't do what I thought it was going to do.
Year one was a year of building.
It was a year of building me.
And what I mean by that is, this past year was me going out there, looking over the edge... and jumping.
And I didn't just jump in my personal life, y'all. I jumped in my business life. I jumped with this blog. I jumped all the way around.
And I gotta tell y'all...
It's been a journey.
But it's been a journey that was worth it.
When I say I jumped off the edge, starting this blog was one of those jumps.
I put myself out there.
I put myself on the internet without knowing what was going to happen. I didn't know if anybody was going to read it. I didn't know if anyone was going to be receptive to what I had to say.
I didn't know what Love and Life with Lisa was going to become.
I just jumped.
Then there was work.
I went out travelling on my own and had to do things I never imagined I would be able to do. I went to different provinces, got in a car and drove around places I didn't know.
By myself. LOL because we all know your girl is directionally challenged.
And let me tell you...
It was damn scary. π
But I did it.
And somewhere in the middle of all of this, I started doing other things too.
I started creating. I started playing around with Canva and surprising myself with what I could make. I started using my voice in ways I hadn't before.
And little by little, without even realizing it...
I was building confidence.
Isn't that funny?
We all have those things we think about doing.
We stand there looking at the edge thinking...
Can I?
Can I really do this?
And sometimes the answer is...
Nope. Nope. Can't do it. π
Because here's the scary part about jumping.
At the point that you jump, you don't know what's going to keep you up in the air.
You don't know exactly where you're going to land.
You don't know what's going to happen next.
Until you do it.
And then one day, you look back.
You look at everything that happened because you took that chance, and you think...
Wow.
I did that.
That's what happened to me this year.
I gained confidence.
Confidence in myself.
And the crazy thing is, I didn't even realize that's what I needed.
When I started this journey, confidence wasn't what I thought I was building.
I had other ideas about what year one was going to look like. LOL.
I thought I was building something outside of myself.
Turns out...
I was building something inside of me.
I was building my foundation.
And yes, all through life we have confidence in different ways.
Some people find it when they're really young.
Some find it somewhere in the middle.
And some of us find new pieces of it a little later.
But I think there's something beautiful that happens when you take a chance, do something that scares you, and then get to look back and see what you accomplished.
Nobody can take that away from you.
Because you did it.
You took the chance.
You jumped.
And for me?
I landed on confidence.
So year one, for me, was about building confidence.
And maybe year one wasn't supposed to make me money.
Maybe year one was supposed to make me ready.
Now let me talk to you for a minute.
Because I've talked about this before.
I've talked about taking a chance.
I've talked about sometimes keeping that dream or idea to yourself for a little while. Let it grow. Protect it while it's still fragile. Give yourself time to build enough confidence in it that when you finally tell somebody, whatever they say isn't going to stop you from doing what you already know you want to do.
And I'm going to say it to you again.
If you have an idea...
If something has been placed on your heart...
If there's something that's been circling around in your brain for a couple of years and every once in a while you find yourself thinking...
Can I?
Can I really do it?
Girl, do it.
Just get out there and do it.
Take the chance.
Make the jump.
You don't have to have every answer before you start.
You don't have to know exactly where you're going to land.
The parachute will come out when the parachute needs to come out.
And now here I am, standing at another edge.
Year two.
And if year one taught me that I could jump and take a chance on doing something different, I already know what I want year two to teach me.
Freedom.
Year one was confidence.
Year two is freedom.
And yes, part of that freedom for me is financial.
I want to take everything I've learned this year and make it work for me. I want to see the things I've created begin to produce something. I want to watch debt come down and experience that little bit of freedom that comes every time something gets paid off.
But I think freedom is bigger than money too.
It's the freedom to create.
The freedom to dream bigger.
The freedom to take another chance.
The freedom that comes from knowing that even if you're scared, you can trust yourself enough to move anyway.
Because once you've jumped once and realized you can survive the fall...
That edge starts looking a little different.
Do I know where year two is going to take me?
Nope. π
Do I know exactly how I'm going to get there?
Nope.
Am I still a little scared?
Yup.
But 2026 into 2027...
Child, I'm ready for it.
Year one, you gave me confidence.
Year two...
I'm coming for my freedom.
πΉ Whisper: You don't have to know where you're going to land before you jump. Sometimes you just have to trust that you're ready to fly.
