Rich in Love: The Heroes Who Held Me Together
Come, come sit with me… I have a story to tell you about my heroes.
Not the kind you find in books or movies — mine are real. Mine have been with me since the beginning.
Yes, they’re my brothers. But to me? They’re the boys.
All my friends know about the boys. And I bet you’re wondering why they’re my heroes. Well… they’ve loved me, protected me, and guided me when I needed it (yes, I rebelled at the guiding — what little sister wouldn’t?).
My parents always told us that family is everything, that people will come and go in your life, but family will remain.
And for us? That has always been true.
The boys are like night and day — one quiet, one bold; one steady, one wild.
But when we’re all together, we fit.
There’s a rhythm to us, a dance we’ve been doing since childhood. And don’t even get me started on the banter — that’s a sport in our family. Teasing, laughing, pushing buttons, and loving each other through every moment.
We fight, sure. We annoy each other, absolutely. But underneath it all… the love is unshakeable.
I am rich in the love department — and I’ve been rich with love my whole life. Trust me, I don’t take that for granted.
But listen… you may have heroes in your life too. Not all heroes are by blood. Some come as friends. Some come as coworkers who show up in the right season. Some come as neighbours, mentors, or even strangers who give you a moment of kindness you’ll never forget.
Heroes aren’t always born into your family. Sometimes they walk into your life later and become family in their own way.
My boys know I love them — that part has never been a secret. But I’m not sure they know they’re my heroes.
Maybe one day I’ll tell them. Maybe one day I’ll sit them down and say, “You two saved me more times than you realize.”
For now, it stays quietly in my heart — this deep knowing of how blessed, how held, how rich I’ve been because of them.
And when you think about the hero in your life — whoever they are — let it sink in for a moment.
Because that right there? That’s wealth.
We forget that sometimes. We chase the kind of “rich” the world measures in dollars or numbers… but the real riches? The ones that keep you steady, make you laugh, and remind you that you’re not alone?
Those riches have names.
Footnote: Your hero can be anyone who has shown up for you. Anyone who stood beside you, checked on you, lifted you, or loved you in their own way. That counts. That matters.
And if you have even one of those people?
Sweetheart… you’re already rich.
Whisper: “The richest life is the one held together by the people who choose you again and again.” πΏ
