Your Girl Has Been Keeping Something From You... πŸ˜‚

Come, come sit with me. Pull up a chair and grab yourself a drink. Let's talk about houses. You know, when we think about building a house, we often think about the foundation, the walls, the roof, and all the little things that make it a home. But a house isn't just about the walls that surround us. It's about what happens inside those walls. It's about the stories we share, the laughter, the conversations, the memories we make, and the people who come through our doors. And over the past year, without even realizing it at first, I've been building a house of my own. I call it Love and Life with Lisa. I didn't start out with a blueprint. I didn't know how many rooms I would build or even what the finished house would look like. I just knew I wanted to create a place where people could come, pull up a chair, and feel comfortable enough to stay awhile. And little by little, I've been adding rooms. The first room I built was the Refle...

✨ Can You See Yourself There?

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink, and pull up a chair.

Let's have a conversation.

Let's have a conversation about life.

Not deep life. πŸ˜‚

Let's stay a little high-level today.

I'm not going to ask you that question, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Because honestly, I don't really want to know what your five-year plan is.

I want to ask you something a little different.

Have you ever suddenly realized that the life you picture for your future doesn't even look like the life you're living now... even though you actually like the life you're living?

Think about that for a second.

Because we all get these dreams in our heads about what our lives are going to look like.

I remember when I was younger thinking, I can't wait until I'm in my thirties and I can do this and this and this...

Child.

What I thought I was going to do and what I actually did were two completely different things. πŸ˜‚

And now here I am again.

I like my life.

Actually, I love my life.

I have a beautiful home. I have my family. I have my friends. I have this wonderful little community around me. There is so much about the life I'm living right now that makes me happy.

But if you ask me what I picture for my future?

Honey...

I want to be near water.

I don't know where. I don't even know if it's an island.

I just know I want to be somewhere where I can open my windows and feel that little breeze coming through. I want to hear the waves coming in. I want to look out and see water.

I just want to be comfortable.

I want to be content.

There's something about water that does that for me.

I've lived in a couple of different places near water, and when I think back on those times, I have to say they were probably some of my happiest.

Because for me, looking out a window and seeing water has this calming effect.

But that's me.

Someone else could live on a farm, look out the window, see their cows wandering around and be happy as peach pie. πŸ˜‚

Someone else wants to be right in the middle of the city. They want an apartment where they can look down and see the cars, hear the noise, watch people rushing around—and that makes them feel alive.

That's their contentment.

I think we all have a different picture of what that looks like.

But I've realized something about mine.

When I picture the life ahead of me, I see water.

I hear waves.

I feel a breeze coming through an open window.

And somewhere in that picture...

I feel content.

Let me ask you a couple of questions.

And I don't want you to answer them right away.

Just sit for a moment.

Pause.

Think about them.

When you strip away the job, the money, the responsibilities, and all the things you're supposed to want...

what does contentment actually look like to you?

Not where do you see yourself in five years.

Not what are you trying to accomplish next.

What does your contentment look like?

And maybe your answer is: right where I am.

And if it is, that's perfectly okay.

Maybe your contentment is living on a farm.

Maybe it's being near the water.

Maybe it's being right in the middle of a busy city.

Everybody's picture is going to be different.

But think about this...

What gives you peace?

When you close your eyes and think about your life, what gives you that feeling of inner peace?

Because I think everybody has something.

Whether we talk about it or not, there's usually something—or somewhere—that makes us feel a little quieter inside.

What is yours?

And when you close your eyes...

can you see yourself there?

And if you can see yourself there...

do you know how you're going to get there?

Hmm.

Maybe that's the question we should sit with for a little while.

🌹 Whisper: Sometimes knowing what contentment looks like is the beginning of finding our way to it.
