✨ I Think I Need a Minute

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair...

Okay, real talk here... I am so out of sync right now, it isn't even funny. πŸ˜‚

Y'all, my year has been moving soooo fast, putting one leg out to slow it down has NOT been working. πŸ˜‚

Let me start with work. I enjoy my job, but let me tell you, it has gotten even more interesting when you throw in travel...

The stories I have about the airport... making sure you have everything you need to travel with, going through security, then you get the rental car and you just never know what you are going to get. πŸ˜‚

And I haven't even started doing my job yet.

Okay, you got your first week of travel done and you're on your way back home...

HOME.

Mmmm... but when you get there, you want to meet up with friends and family because you've been gone. You need to do laundry, and then you need to get ready for your week...

This. THIS has been me for the last five months.

So I am sitting here today telling you I am out of sync, out of rhythm... whatever you want to call it.

That is where your girl is at. πŸ˜‚

I bet you can all relate to me, maybe in different ways, but we all have that feeling of being out of sync...

For me, when I'm out of sync, I can feel it in my energy. My energy gets low, and then I realize I'm not really being present.

I'm there... but I'm not completely there.

My mind is already thinking about the next thing I have to do, where I have to be, what I forgot to do, or what needs to get done tomorrow.

And I don't like that feeling because being present is important to me.

When I'm at full energy, you get the full, present Lisa. πŸ˜‚

I'm hearing everything that is being said. I'm reacting better, and honestly, I just feel better.

Having low energy is NOT fun.

Child, I knew my tank was empty when I'm in this beautiful place, and I'm grumpy as all get out. πŸ˜‚

I'm looking around thinking, I should be enjoying this! But nope... your girl is tired.

And when your energy is that low, sometimes nothing is going to make you happy until you get that energy back up.

Here's the thing... my tank right now is empty, and who can drive on an empty tank?

Soooo, for me to get my tank back to full, I need that quiet time.

I need time with no plans. Time to just sit and listen to music, read, watch some sports, or just... be quiet.

Give me 24 hours.

Just 24 hours to fill my tank back up.

That's what I need right now.

So let me ask you... how full is your tank?

Are you running around on half a tank? Maybe you're getting close to empty and you know it, but you keep telling yourself, I'll slow down next week.

Or maybe you didn't even realize how low your tank was until I asked you that question.

We all refill our tanks differently. What works for me might not work for you.

But maybe the important thing is knowing when you're running low... and giving yourself permission to refill before you're completely empty.

So as I sit here writing this, my tank isn't full yet. I'm still on the road, still tired, and still a little out of sync. πŸ˜‚

But at least now I recognize what I need.

And when I get home, I'm going to give myself that time. No guilt. No feeling like I should be doing something else.

Just some quiet, some music, maybe a book or a game on TV... and me.

Because sometimes getting back in sync doesn't mean doing more... sometimes it means finally giving yourself permission to do less.
