✨ I Think I Need a Minute

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair... Okay, real talk here... I am so out of sync right now, it isn't even funny. πŸ˜‚ Y'all, my year has been moving soooo fast, putting one leg out to slow it down has NOT been working. πŸ˜‚ Let me start with work. I enjoy my job, but let me tell you, it has gotten even more interesting when you throw in travel... The stories I have about the airport... making sure you have everything you need to travel with, going through security, then you get the rental car and you just never know what you are going to get. πŸ˜‚ And I haven't even started doing my job yet. Okay, you got your first week of travel done and you're on your way back home... HOME. Mmmm... but when you get there, you want to meet up with friends and family because you've been gone. You need to do laundry, and then you need to get ready for your week... This. THIS has been me for the last five months. So I am sitting here today telling...

Crossing Paths ✨

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink, and pull up a chair. 🌹

I hope everyone has been having a great summer so far.

The other day, I came across a message that made me stop and think. It simply said:

“Sometimes the blessings come in unexpected ways.”

The way I interpreted that message might be completely different from the way someone else does. I think that’s the beauty of it—we all bring our own experiences to the words we read.

But for me...

it had everything to do with people.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been travelling a lot lately and meeting all kinds of people. Or maybe it’s because, over the years, I’ve met people who have crossed my path for only a few moments, yet somehow they’ve stayed with me.

One memory in particular came back to me.

A while ago, I was grocery shopping, picking up the ingredients for supper. I wanted to make salmon, and I found a piece that looked really good, but it was much bigger than I needed.

So I asked the lady behind the seafood counter if she could cut it in half.

She smiled and said, “No, we have to sell it as one whole piece.”

I laughed and thought, “Okay... well, how much is this going to cost?”

She put it on the scale, looked at the screen, and told me the price.

I looked at it and said, “BOOM! That’s the perfect piece!”

Then I smiled and said, “You totally made my day. Thank you so much.”

She looked at me for a few seconds before quietly saying, “No one has ever said that to me before.”

I stood there for a moment, looking at the smile on her face.

As I walked away, I couldn’t stop thinking about what she had just said.

It wasn’t about the salmon anymore.

It was about her.

A simple “thank you” and a few kind words had stayed with both of us.

It reminded me why that message had stayed with me.

Sometimes the blessings really do come in unexpected ways.

Then another memory came to me.

I was travelling for work and stopped at McDonald’s for a tea and a hash brown. Honestly... I wasn’t feeling the greatest that day.

I pulled up to the window to pay, and the cashier kept looking at me.

I’m thinking, “Okay... what’s going on? Is my hair sticking up?”

Then she smiled and simply said, “You’re beautiful.”

I honestly didn’t know what to do with that compliment because I certainly wasn’t feeling beautiful that day.

But hun...

those two words changed my mood.

And I’ve never forgotten them.

It made me think about the people we meet unexpectedly who become blessings without ever intending to be.

Some people come into our lives for years.

Some stay for only an hour.

And somehow...

both can change us.

The blessing isn’t always the people we call family or our closest friends.

Sometimes it’s the woman standing beside us in the grocery store who says exactly what we needed to hear.

The man sitting beside us on a plane who shares a story we’ll never forget.

The older gentleman sitting on a park bench who reminds us of our grandfather.

The cashier who notices we’re having a rough day and simply asks, “Are you okay?”

None of those people know the impact they had.

Yet somehow...

we carry them with us.

But I also realized something else.

It isn’t just about the people who unexpectedly bless us.

Sometimes...

we’re the unexpected blessing.

And we may never know it.

Maybe we smiled at someone who had been crying all morning.

Maybe we held the door a little longer.

Maybe we listened instead of rushing away.

Maybe a conversation we don’t even remember becomes one that someone else remembers for years.

There’s something beautiful about realizing we leave little pieces of ourselves with people we may never meet again.

It doesn’t have to be some life-changing moment.

Sometimes it’s the quiet, ordinary encounters that stay with us the longest.

The kind where, hours later, you’re making supper and suddenly you think...

“I wonder how that woman is doing.”

Or...

“I hope he made it home safely.”

Sometimes we’re the blessing.

Sometimes someone else is.

And most of the time...

neither of us realizes it until long after the moment has passed.

🌹 Whisper: May we never underestimate the power of a smile, a compliment, or a simple “thank you.”

Let’s keep the conversation going.
