✨ I Think I Need a Minute

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair... Okay, real talk here... I am so out of sync right now, it isn't even funny. πŸ˜‚ Y'all, my year has been moving soooo fast, putting one leg out to slow it down has NOT been working. πŸ˜‚ Let me start with work. I enjoy my job, but let me tell you, it has gotten even more interesting when you throw in travel... The stories I have about the airport... making sure you have everything you need to travel with, going through security, then you get the rental car and you just never know what you are going to get. πŸ˜‚ And I haven't even started doing my job yet. Okay, you got your first week of travel done and you're on your way back home... HOME. Mmmm... but when you get there, you want to meet up with friends and family because you've been gone. You need to do laundry, and then you need to get ready for your week... This. THIS has been me for the last five months. So I am sitting here today telling...

πŸ“š I'm Chasing That Feeling Again

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair...

Sooo... I saw something on the internet the other day that really got me thinking.

You all know that I think romance and connection make the world go around... mmm... well, I like almost the same thing in my books.

Now don't get me wrong. I love a good insta-love every once in a while, and if they meet and end up in bed that same night... well, child, that's all good too. πŸ˜‚

But not all the time.

Give me the slow-burn romance.

Give me the stolen glances.

The accidental touches.

The late-night conversations.

The moments when they're fighting their feelings because they're terrified to admit what they're becoming to each other.

I want the tension.

I WANT the banter.

Girl... give me a man who can flirt, tease, challenge her a little, make me laugh, and sprinkle in some dirty talk at just the right moment...

Oh Lord, I think I just fainted there for a second. πŸ˜‚

Now don't get me wrong...

I love me some morally grey too.

And if he's morally grey and it's a slow burn...

Hun...

Sign.

Me.

Up. πŸ˜‚

I also love those wonderful secondary characters.

You know the ones... the best friend who steals every scene they're in, the grumpy grandpa, the meddling aunt, the hilarious brother, or that one person who somehow makes the main characters look even better.

A great romance isn't just about the couple.

It's also about the people who make their world feel real.

Have romance books changed... or have I?

Nope.

I'm the same.

I'm still looking for the butterflies.

I'm still looking for the anticipation.

I'm still looking for that feeling when I'm halfway through the book yelling, "Would somebody PLEASE kiss somebody already!"

I'm on the hunt for one of those good old-fashioned romances that gives me all those feelings again.

My bestie likes to read too, but unlike me, she doesn't like a lot of romance. She wants just enough to make the story interesting.

Well... there was one book I read that had everything I loved and more. The slow burn, the banter, the chemistry... and it made me laugh.

I kept telling her about it.

I told her how funny it was, how much I loved the characters, and how it had everything I look for in a romance.

When I finished it, I gave her the book.

One night she couldn't sleep, so she started reading.

She got to one really funny part and laughed so hard that she shook the bed and woke her husband up. πŸ˜‚

Gosh... we still laugh about that to this day.

But that's my point.

When a book can make you laugh like that...

When it makes you swoon...

When it gives you butterflies...

When it makes you fall in love not only with the main characters, but with the secondary characters too...

In my opinion, that's a good book.

Now you all know this is just my opinion.

If you love insta-love, the one-night stand that turns into forever, or all the spice right from chapter one...

Read it, enjoy it, and tell me all about it!

This is simply what I find myself searching for whenever I pick up a new romance.

I'm chasing the butterflies.

The slow burn.

The banter.

The tension.

The unforgettable secondary characters.

The romance that makes me laugh, swoon, and close the book wishing I could experience it all over again.

So now I have to ask...

What book gave you that feeling?

The one you still think about.

The one you recommend to everyone.

The one that made you laugh, cry, swoon, or fall in love with reading all over again.

Because if you've found one...

Pull up a chair and tell me.

I'm always looking for my next great love story.
