The Road Does Go Both Ways πŸš—

Come, come sit with me, grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair... You all, I was travelling last week for work. Can I tell you? I learned a few things. Okay... a lot of things. πŸ˜‚ Oh... before I go any further, the trip actually started with an upgrade on the plane. Now, that upgrade was... interesting, to say the least. πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚ Let's just say the lady sitting beside me gave me a travel story I'll never forget. I'll save the details for another blog because trust me... that one deserves a blog all on its own. πŸ˜‚ Let's start with this... I was nervous. Like, really nervous. Would I get my point across? Would I talk too fast? Too slow? Would they like me? Even though I've talked to them for a long time, meeting people in person is different. A million thoughts were running through my head. The other thing was I had a lot of driving to do between meetings... so you guessed it... MORE thinking. Thank God I love music because, without it, me and my th...

I Swore I'd Never Say That! 🌹

Come, come sit with me... grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair. 🌹

Oh child... πŸ˜‚

Remember when you were a kid and your parents used to say things like...

"Were you born in a barn?"

"Turn the lights off!"

"Money doesn't grow on trees."

"I'm not made of money."

"Because I said so."

"Close the fridge!"

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I bet some of you are already laughing because you heard your parents' voices as you read every single one of those!

Come on now... you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I used to hear those sayings and think to myself,

"I swear I'll NEVER say that when I grow up!"

Well...

How's that working out for you? πŸ˜‚

πŸšͺ "Were you born in a barn?" πŸ˜‚

I swear... every time I left the door open, that sentence came flying across the house. I don't know if I was letting the cold air in or the bugs in, but apparently I wasn't born in a barn! 🀣

πŸ’‘ "Turn the lights off!"

Apparently every light in the house did not need to be on. One of my parents could spot one forgotten light from a mile away.

Now...

I walk through my own house turning lights off and suddenly hear their voice in my head.

πŸ˜‚

πŸ’° "Money doesn't grow on trees."

As a kid, I honestly thought my parents just had money whenever they needed it.

Now I'm the one looking at the grocery bill thinking...

"Well... they were right." πŸ˜‚

🀣 "Because I said so."

I remember thinking that was the weakest answer in the world.

"But WHY?"

"Because I said so."

Seriously?

Years later...

I caught myself saying those exact same words.

I actually stopped for a second and laughed because I had become the very person I swore I'd never become.

πŸ₯› "Close the fridge!"

Apparently standing there with the fridge door open while trying to decide what I wanted wasn't an acceptable life choice. πŸ˜‚

Now I catch myself saying...

"Are you cooling the whole neighbourhood?"

Wait...

Where did THAT come from? 🀣

❤️ "I am NOT one of your little friends on the street..."

Now this one...

This one belonged to my mom.

Whenever I got a little too much attitude, she'd look at me and say,

"I am NOT one of your little friends on the street... I am your mother. Remember that."

🀣🀣🀣

Listen... the minute those words came out of her mouth, I already knew.

The conversation was over.

It was time for me to quietly walk away with my tail between my legs because Mama was done.

But you know what?

After a while, it wasn't even the saying anymore.

It was the look.

Mmmm... yep.

She had that look.

The one that said a million things without saying a single word.

"Stop now while you still can."

"I am so disappointed."

"Did you honestly just say that?"

"Go ahead... say one more word."

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Meanwhile, you're standing there thinking...

"Nope... I can't take the look!"

Funny how our parents could say so much without saying very much at all.

And let me tell you something...

Somewhere along the way...

I got the look.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yep!

I can give that look to the kids just like my mom gave it to me.

I don't even have to say a word.

One look...

And they know. 🀣

And just like that...

I became my mother.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I GOT THE POWER!!!
