Finding My Way Back to Balance πΉ

Come, come sit with me. Grab yourself a drink and pull up a chair.
Oh girl... I have been so busy these last few months with work, travelling for work, and writing to all of you that I think I've lost a little balance in my life.
I have a feeling you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Maybe for you it's trying to balance work and family. Maybe it's family and friends. Maybe you're raising children, caring for aging parents, or trying to find time for yourself somewhere in between.
Sometimes it feels like we're trying to fit ten hours into five.
We keep saying, "Once this week is over..." or "Once things settle down..." But then another week comes, another responsibility shows up, and before we know it, we're running in circles.
Somewhere along the way, we stop asking ourselves a simple question...
When was the last time I felt balanced?
Then something happened that made me realize I had been asking myself the wrong question.
Maybe the better question wasn't, "When was the last time I felt balanced?" Maybe it was, "What do I need to do to bring myself back into balance?"
I was visiting a client this week, and somehow we ended up talking about the things that bring us peace and balance.
For her, it's pottery.
I have to admit, I was so impressed.
She told me that when she's sitting at her pottery wheel, the rest of the world seems to disappear. It's her quiet place. It's where she reconnects with herself. It isn't about making the perfect piece... it's about how she feels while she's creating.
As I drove away, I couldn't stop thinking about our conversation.
Then, the next day, I found my own answer.
I went to my bestie's house for a chat and asked her what she was making for supper.
She looked at me and laughed.
She hadn't even thought about dinner because she had been sitting outside, just enjoying the afternoon.
It made me smile because I realized that sitting outside was probably the very thing that was bringing her back into balance.
So... we did what best friends do.
We ordered takeout instead. π
Then we sat there, played cards, laughed, talked, and forgot about everything else for a little while.
The next day, I went for a drive with another friend, and we ended up going out for dinner.
And just like that...
BOOM.
My balance came back.
Not because I took a vacation.
Not because work suddenly slowed down.
Not because everything on my to-do list disappeared.
It came back because I spent time doing the things that filled my heart instead of just checking things off my list.
It made me realize that balance doesn't always come from changing our lives.
Sometimes it comes from returning to the little things we've been missing.
Maybe it's sitting outside with a cup of coffee.
Maybe it's reading a book.
Maybe it's going for a walk, painting, gardening, playing cards with a friend, or simply laughing until your cheeks hurt.
Life will always be busy.
There will always be another email, another errand, another responsibility waiting for us tomorrow.
But the things that bring us peace... those deserve a place in our lives too.
So today, I'm leaving you with a different question.
What brings you back into balance?
I'd love for you to think about it... because you just might find that it's been waiting for you all along.
