The Conversations We Have in Our Heads
Come, come sit with me… grab your drink and pull up a chair.
Girl… let’s talk about those conversations we have in our head — the ones we wish we said out loud. π
You know exactly the ones I’m talking about.
You know when you have an argument with a sibling… and at the time, they get the last word in?
You walk away steaming.
And then… later?
That conversation starts playing back in your head.
But now?
Ohhh now you’ve got the perfect reply.
Too late. π
We’ve all had those conversations in our head.
And if someone says, “No, I don’t…”
Girl… I’m just going to give you that look π
You know the one… big eyes, head tilted a little like…
“Are you sure?”
Because honestly… we don’t just replay conversations…
we rewrite them.
And guess what?
We win the argument every single time. π
In our heads… we’re calm… collected… saying all the right things…
And then we wake up…
…and yeah… that’s not quite how it went. π
Those conversations in our heads… they’re not just with siblings.
They can be with a coworker…
a husband or a wife…
a boyfriend or a girlfriend…
a friend…
Because most of the time?
They come from something we wanted to say…
but didn’t.
And maybe…
just maybe…
we need to ask ourselves…
why did we hold back?
And if we ask ourselves why…
here are some of the reasons I think we don’t say anything:
Sometimes it’s because we didn’t want to make things worse…
Sometimes it’s because we didn’t know how to say it…
And sometimes… it’s because we didn’t think our voice would be heard anyway.
Here’s the truth…
we’ve all been there at one point or another.
Now the question becomes…
do we continue to hold back…
or do we speak our truth?
Because maybe it’s not about saying it perfectly…
maybe it’s about finally saying it at all.
Because the truth is…
we don’t always get the moment back.
And those conversations we replay?
They’re usually the ones that mattered the most.
So maybe next time…
we pause just long enough…
take a breath…
and say it.
Even if our voice shakes.
Even if it’s not perfect.
✨ Whisper: The words you’re holding in might be the ones that set you free.
